Renew Materials

A page to help users search for items and determine if they should use ILL or Connect-NY to borrow materials.

Renew Materials

Can I request a renewal?

  • Check the slip on your book. If "No Renewals” is mentioned on the slip, then renewals are not allowed by the lending library.

If a renewal is allowed, how do I request it?

  • Log into Interlibrary Borrowing.
  • Under the category ‘Main Menu’ in the left navigation menu, click on the ‘Checked Out Items’ link.
  • Click on the transaction number of the item you would like to renew.
  • At the top of the item page, there will be a Renew Request link. Click on that link to submit your request for a two week extension. If the link is not available, our book cannot be requested for renewals

  • The renewal request is now sent to the department for processing. If the lending institution grants you additional time, your due date will be adjusted accordingly.
    • Please be advised, any and all restrictions on renewals, as well as “library use only” policies, are at the discretion of the lending library that are strictly observed.
  • You will NOT be contacted with an update on your request. You must revisit ILLiad to check its status. It is your responsibility to keep track of the item’s due date.

NOTE: For ConnectNY book renewals, please contact User Services at 516-877-3570 or userservices@adelphi.edu

Returning Materials

Where can I return materials?

Books should be returned to the service desk at Swirbul Library in Garden City.

What are the fines for overdue, damaged and lost books?

  • Failure to return books by the due date will generate fines of $1 a day.
  • Once your items are 15 days overdue, your account will be blocked, resulting in suspension of library privileges, including access to online databases and e-journals.
  • The fees for damaged and lost books are determined by the lending library. Please be advised that these charges will be added to your account.
