Smart Delivery (Resource Sharing)

Smart Delivery (Resource Sharing) is a free service provided by the Digital Document Delivery department of Adelphi University to the Adelphi community. It is used to borrow materials that are not owned by Adelphi University Libraries. There is no charge

Renew Materials

Can I request a renewal?

  • Check the green slip on your book. If "No Renewals” is mentioned on the slip, then renewals are not allowed by the lending library.
  • Renewals will not be permitted during the week prior to the due date. You must request the renewal as soon as possible.

If a renewal is allowed, how do I request it?

  • Log into Smart Delivery.
  • Under the category ‘Main Menu’ in the left navigation menu, click on the ‘Checked Out Items’ link.
  • Click on the transaction number of the item you would like to renew.
  • At the top of the item page, there will be a Renew Request link. Click on that link to submit your request for a two week extension. If the link is not available, our book cannot be requested for renewals

  • The renewal request is now sent to the Interlibrary Loan department for processing. If the lending institution grants you additional time, your due date will be adjusted accordingly.
    • Please be advised, any and all restrictions on renewals, as well as “library use only” policies, are at the discretion of the lending library that are strictly observed.
  • You will NOT be contacted with an update on your request. You must revisit ILLiad to check its status. It is your responsibility to keep track of the item’s due date.

NOTE: For ConnectNY book renewals, please contact Access Services at 516-877-3570 or accessservices@adelphi.edu

Returning Materials

Where can I return materials?

Only books have to be returned and you can bring them to the Access Services desk at Swirbul Library in Garden City, Manhattan Center, or Hauppauge Center.

What are the fines for overdue, damaged and lost books?

  • Failure to return books by the due date will generate fines of $1 a day.
  • Once your items are 15 days overdue, your account will be blocked, resulting in suspension of library privileges, including access to online databases and ejournals.
  • The fees for damaged and lost books are determined by the lending library. Please be advised that these charges will be added to your account.
