All About Books

Use OneSearch to find out what books you can access at Adelphi University Libraries.

See our OneSearch LibGuide on how to.

University libraries use Library of Congress Classification to arrange books. It's different from the Dewey Decimal System that the public and high school libraries use. Watch this short video on how to read a Library of Congress call number.

Once you find the call number from the catalog, check out the map to see what floor to find your book on.

A sampling of some of the books you'll find in the catalog:

  • Some ebooks may be available for reading online, while others may be available for download.
  • Only a certain number of pages can be printed and copied from ebooks.
  • ebooks can be downloaded to mobile devices. Each ebook vendor will tell you what software, which is free, is needed for download.
  • An eBook Central account is already set up for you. Sign in with your Adelphi University Universal Username and Password when prompted. In eBook Central you can read a book online, download a book, save books to your eBook Central Bookshelf, highlight, and take notes.
