Case Studies

Locating Case Studies

For some classes you may be asked to find Case Studies. The databases have a tool called limiters. These limiters allow you to do just that, limit your results to a particular item or attribute. A Case Study is a document type, which in many databases is a limiter. Oftentimes there are differences among the databases when it come to limiters. Examples would be: Case Study may be under Publication Type; they may be called Case Reports as well. Limiters are typically found on the Advanced Search screen of the database. Here are a few examples from popular databases used in Communication Sciences and Disorders. 

 

  • ComDisDome & Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts Advanced Search screen

 

  • Education Full Text Advanced Search screen

 

  • Medline with Full Text Advanced Search screen; Here it is under Publication Type and has a choice of Case Reports as well.
