If an item is available in print, you will find its location and availability in the Get It section of an item's record. From this section you may:
When viewing an item available for checkout, click Get It in the sidebar or scroll down to find the available locations.
Under Get It you may place a request for the item and include your desired pickup location. In addition to specific library pickup locations you may also request that a physical item be delivered to your home address.
In the Get It section you may also place a digitization request for a book chapter or selection to be scanned and emailed to you.
Note: The Library will digitize and email you up to two chapters or 10% of any one title, in accordance with copyright fair use.
See the OneSearch Request and Digitization video overview for more information.
⚠️ Always check if Adelphi University Libraries has something before placing an Interlibrary Borrowing request.
Adelphi has borrowing arrangements with libraries in the region and around the world (see Interlibrary Borrowing). This service is free for Adelphi students, faculty, and staff, and you can do it from within OneSearch with a few clicks. If an item is unavailable at Adelphi Libraries but available from another library, you will see "Request Through Interlibrary Borrowing" in either the brief details at the top or in the "Get It" section of an item record (or both).
The link will take you to an Interlibrary Borrowing form with information already filled in; here you may add additional details and submit your request.
Note that, by default, OneSearch shows results to which Adelphi has access. To better locate items at other libraries that may be available for loan, expand your search by selecting the "Expand beyond Adelphi's holdings" toggle in the sidebar of any search result page.
Even if you cannot find what you are looking for in OneSearch, you may initiate a request by selecting the Interlibrary Borrowing link from the header of any OneSearch page and providing information about the work you are seeking.
Upon receiving Interlibrary Borrowing request, a member of the User Services team will follow up with you to confirm the request and update on availability of the item.
In My Library Account, available from the header of any OneSearch page, you may find your current loans and renew loaned materials. For more information, see Library Policies: Loan Rules and Library Policies: How to Return or Renew Books.
Library faculty and staff are available by chat, phone, email, or in person to help with research questions.
Go to Ask a Librarian (available from the top of any OneSearch page), where you can get help about your account, find guides and FAQs on specific topics, and contact a librarian with expertise in your subject area to meet online or in person. You can also drop by Swirbul’s 1st floor Service Point.
