New York is on the cusp of securing legislation protecting intellectual freedom in school libraries statewide, but we need your voice to help finish the job.

NYLA is calling on #LibraryAdvocates everywhere to contact Governor Hochul and urge her to sign the Freedom to Read Act (S.1099/A.7777) today!

Freedom to Read Act: Summary

Enacts the "freedom to read act"; requires the commissioner of education and school library systems to develop policies to ensure that school libraries and library staff are empowered to curate and develop collections that provide students with access to the widest array of developmentally appropriate materials available.
