Welcome! This guide will help you create topic search alerts and journal/author/citation alerts in some popular database platforms.
Why Use Search Alerts?
A Search Alert notifies you of new articles that match a search you have saved. This can alert you to new articles in a given subject area, by a certain author, or containing specific keywords. You will create a search strategy in the selected database and then set up an email alert to be notified about new articles related to your search strategy.
Researchers often have some favorite journals that are relevant to their research interests and will want to be alerted when new issues of a particular journal are published. Creating a journal alert allows you to be notified when the latest issue of a journal is available in the database and receive electronic tables of contents. You can also be alerted when and where a particular article has been cited (your own or another's work).
