Databases
Library databases index scholarly journals. These are important to you in graduate school, but scholarly articles tend to explore narrow topics in depth. They contribute to the profession's conversation and don't always provide background biographical information.
If you want to try searching a database for articles about your subject, I suggest JSTOR.
