 The Caldecott Medal is awarded every year to the illustrator of  the most distinguished American picture book for children.  


  The Caldecott Honor Award is give to worthy runners-up who were considered for the Caldecott Medal.


     The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished   American children's book published the previous year.


   The Newbery Honor Award is give to worthy runners-up that were considered for the Newbery Award.



   The Coretta Scott King Award recognizes African-American authors and illustrators and their outstanding contributions to Children's and Young Adult Literature.
