RefWorks Discontinuation Notice

Important Notice for RefWorks Users

Adelphi University Libraries are discontinuing licensing of RefWorks beginning 1 September 2022. Please see this guide for information on how to export your data from RefWorks and migrate it to another system such as Zotero. If you have a RefWorks account via Adelphi you must take action to prevent loss of citation data!

Follow the step-by-step instructions provided by RefWorks in the pdf file:

Exporting to RefWorks from Zotero

Zotero is an extension to the Mozilla Firefox browser. To export references from Zotero:

  1. In the Actions (gear symbol) menu, select "Export Library...".
  2. Change the Format to "RIS".
  3. Save the RIS file.

To import the saved RIS file into RefWorks:

  1. In the References drop-down menu, select "Import".
  2. Change the Import Filter/Data Source to "RIS Format".
  3. Change the Database to "RIS Format".
  4. Browse to retrieve the saved RIS file.
  5. Select the "Import" button.

From the results of a search:

  1. Mark the items by checking the box to the left of each item to be exported.
  2. At the top of the results list, select "Download Citations".
  3. Select Citation Manager/File Format: "RefWorks".
  4. Leave the box checked for "Direct import".
  5. Select the "Download article citation data" button.
