The Taking Sides volumes present current issues in a debate-style format designed to stimulate student interest and develop critical thinking skills. Each issue is thoughtfully framed with an issue summary, an issue introduction, and a postscript or challenge questions. The pro and con essays—selected for their liveliness and substance—represent the arguments of leading scholars and commentators in their fields. Each anthology is composed of a wide spectrum of primary sources written by many of the foremost authorities in their respective fields.
