EST 304 Community, Schools, and Society: Getting Started

(Prof. Thornburg) This guide will help you find scholarly resources at Adelphi Libraries for your assignment.

Writing A Position Paper

Below you will fink links to handouts that  will provide you with techniques and strategies for writing position papers, as well as their elements.

Welcome to Swirbul Library

As Adelphi University students, the first thing you need to know is that the librarians and staff of Swirbul Library are here to help you!

Using the library can be confusing. We have many resources for educational research. The Library component for this class is designed to introduce you to some of the education resources and services necessary for this assignment.

Professor Thornburg has assigned three topics for you to choose from:

  • Using standardized measures of student achievement to judge teachers (pro/con)
  • Public funding to address inequities by gender in schools (pro/con)
  • Separate classes for second-language learning (pro/con).

If you have difficulty finding what you need or don't know where to begin feel free to ask a librarian. You can usually find a  librarian at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor. The Reference Desk is staffed more than 60 hours each week. You can also reach us by phone (516-877-3574).
