ALTMETRICS

Altmetrics is a developing way of using indicators on social media to measure the impact of research and find connections among research areas.  It looks at such social media as downloads from Zotero and Mendeley,  tweets, blog postings, and bookmarked citations. This expands the view of what impact is as scholarly activities are shared beyond the traditional gatekeeper publications.
